Trying to Wind Down

Today marks the culmination of a crazy but productive week. I spent the past two weeks editing my novel for the agent who requested a resubmission, and yesterday I headed to E's office for 5 hours to finish up the edits. Today I emailed it in, so we'll see what happens! I've also finally gone through my list of 400 agents, chosen the top 45, and this week I'm going to narrow it down to the top 25, and hopefully start sending out queries in the next few days. I entered the Amazon contest too, cuz you never know. I think I've done just about all I can for this book (or I will have after I send out the rest of the queries) and then hopefully in a couple of weeks I can move on to book #5.
On the job front, things aren't looking too good. No word from Nat Geo, and the VA thing appears to have fallen through. So it would be really, really great if the whole book thing worked out! I signed Jack up to start at a Jewish preschool two days a week this fall, which will give me more time to write (if I haven't given up completely by then). I also got pulled over on the way to interview at said preschool, which was super fun. Jack is going to a playgroup every Monday for the next six weeks or so, John stayed home on Friday and we took him to story time at the library, and the little guy is getting better at walking every day. This week we have playdates with two other moms on top of the playgroup. I really am making an effort to do more mom things now that I'm not working.
In better job news, John passed the essay portion of the Foreign Service exam!!! He'll go to orals in March and then we'll find out if he's made it in. Obviously that will be a major determining factor in what happens to us over next say, 20 years.
I realize this post is all over the place. And reading about what is going on in my life kind of explains why. I'm also watching a terrible movie on TV, which is extremely distracting! Hopefully things will wind down a little this week and I'll be able to breathe. January is almost over, and I'm happy with the progress I've made, but it will be a miracle if John and I don't self destruct one of these days.
Is everyone this busy??

Figures that my first comment EVER would pertain to my husband! I passed on the kind words - any advice for us?
